Deep Origin

What drives us forward

We are an innovative tech company developing a solution to the trade-off between trust and privacy in data. Our aim is to tackle the data authenticity crisis caused by generative AI, by creating the open infrastructure to assess trust of real-world sensor data. Our initial focus is a robust protocol for proof of devicehood. There are several applications of our technology and we are expanding our technical team to deliver on this. To-date we have been awarded three Innovate UK grants and one from the Web 3 Foundation.

Our vision is what keeps us focused and is rooted in our objectives: Making real-world data verifiable, so trust can flourish & society thrive.

Our Mission: Building the open infrastructure for trust in data.

Our Founders

Tim Helweg-Larsen (CEO) and Dr Aeron Buchanan, are our co-founders who jointly originated the core technology.

Tim has spent two decades on large-scale societal challenges; climate, energy transition, synthetic media, and for the past two years has focused on sensor data provenance. Tim holds two patents in imaging devices. He was also the lead author on the Zero Carbon Britain Report by the Centre for Alternative Technology, Tim has deep experience in the net-zero landscape and needs.

Aeron holds a DPhil in machine vision algorithm design from the Oxford University Robotics Research Group, and since 2014 has been a central contributor to two of the largest blockchain platforms, Ethereum and Polkadot, bringing deep expertise in decentralised architecture, privacy-preserving protocols, and attack-resistant information sharing. Aeron was Head of European Finance and Operations at Ethereum and has since then set up multiple companies. Aeron is also Vice President at the Web3 Foundation.

What are we up to

At the moment we are busy working on applications to the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Advanced Research & Invention Agency (ARIA) where we hope that we will finalise the core technology and prototype the first real world solution. To help us do this we are further building our team and are currently recruiting for a Network & Complex Systems Scientist.
